Women's Basketball Heads To A-10 Newcomer Loyola Wednesday

The Flyers And Ramblers Meet For The First Time Since 2008

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will continue its road stretch at Atlantic 10 newcomer Loyola Chicago University Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. ET at Gentile Arena.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton takes on Loyola as both teams are back-to-back in the A-10 standings currently. The Flyers sit at 3-17 overall on the season and 2-7 in A-10 play. UD is on a five-game losing skid and 1-7 on the road this year.

Head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her first season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.

As a team this year, the Flyers are averaging 65.0 points per game while giving up 70.9 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 40.1 percent overall, 33.5 percent from three point range, and 71.4 percent from the free throw line. UD is the top rebounding team in the league with a +5.2 margin.

Dayton is led by senior Mariah Perez with 11.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while redshirt junior Destiny Bohanon has a team-high 12.3 points each outing. Sophomore Arianna Smith is a double-double threat with 9.3 points and 9.0 boards per game.

SCOUTING LOYOLA CHICAGO
Loyola comes to Dayton for the first time in 14 years with a 6-15 overall mark and 1-7 record in conference play. The Ramblers are amidst a seven-game losing streak and sit at 2-8 in away games this season.

Head coach Allison Guth is in her first season in charge, coming over after six years as head coach at Yale University.

As a team, Loyola is scoring 55.0 points each contest and allowing 63.5 points to opposing squads. The Ramblers are shooting 36.6 percent from the floor, 29.0 percent from behind the arc, and 75.3 percent from the free throw line. LU faces a -7.6 rebounding margin, but is committing fewer turnovers.

The Ramblers are led by Maya Chandler at 10.2 points per game, while Sam Galanopoulos is contributing 8.9 points each outing. Sitori Tanin leads the team with 5.1 rebounds to go with 7.7 points per game.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton went on the road to George Washington Saturday and suffered a 71-57 loss to the Colonials. Arianna Smith recorded a double-double with 17 rebounds and 12 points while Nayo Lear had 18 points to lead UD.

Loyola dropped a 50-60 decision at VCU Sunday as the Ramblers' losing streak continued. The Rams jumped out to an early 14-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Sam Galanopoulos and Maya Chandler each had 10 points in the effort

SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and Loyola have played 22 previously with the Flyers holding a narrow 13-9 series advantage. The two teams have not met since 2008 when UD defeated LU by 30 points, 85-55.

STATISTICAL RANKINGS
As a team, Dayton ranks 25th in the nation in rebounds per game and 39th in defensive rebounding and 57th in offensive rebounding. Individually, Mariah Perez ranks 30th in the country in offensive rebounds per game and 60th in total rebounding while Destiny Bohanon is 48th in minutes played.

The Flyers return home to start a three-game home stretch with the University of Richmond on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 12 p.m. at UD Arena.
