Women's Basketball Ends Home Stand With SIUE Monday

The Flyers and Cougars Tip-Off At 7 p.m. At UD Arena On ESPN+

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team finishes up the two-game home stint when the Flyers host SIU-Edwardsville Monday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at UD Arena.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton looks to end its two-game losing skid Monday and head into the week with a 1-3 record overall. The Flyers are 1-1 at home this season.

Williams-Jeter is in her second season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.

The Flyers are averaging 67.5 points per game and giving up 79.5 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 39.6 percent overall, 23.0 percent from three point range, and 74.0 percent from the free throw line. UD has a +3.8 rebounding margin, but is committing more turnovers.

Leading the way for the Flyers is redshirt senior Destiny Bohanon with 12.3 points per game and junior Arianna Smith with 10.7 points and 11.7 rebounds each outing. Graduate student Mariah Perez is another double-double threat with 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest.

SCOUTING SIU-EDWARDSVILLE
SIU-Edwardsville comes to Dayton also on a two-game losing streak and sits at 1-4 on the year. The Cougars' lone win came at home to Evansville and nearly upset Eastern Michigan in their last outing Saturday.

Head coach Samantha Quigley Smith is in her third season at the helm of SIUE and joined the Cougars after four years at Lewis University.

As a team, SIUE is scoring 74.6 points per outing and allowing 83.0 points to opposing squads. The Cougars are shooting 41.2 percent from the floor, 32.5 percent from behind the arc, and 77.9 percent from the charity stripe. SIUE has to overcome -3.6 rebounding and -1.6 turnover margins.

The Cougars are led by KK Rodriguez with 20.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Ava Stoller is chipping in 10.2 points and 4.2 boards while Macy Silvey is contributing 9.8 points each contest.

SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Cougars have met just one time previously back in 1984 with Dayton earning a 98-54 victory over SIUE at UD Arena.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton opened up its two-game home stretch with a tough 76-60 loss to Detroit Saturday. The Flyers were just 1-of-14 from the three-point line and were unable to complete the comeback despite rallying from down six at the half. Bohanon had a team-high 19 points.

SIUE came up just short in a 65-68 loss at Eastern Michigan Saturday as well. The Cougars tied or outscored the Eagles in three of the four quarters, but EMU used a 25-20 fourth to earn the victory. KK Rodriguez led the way with 17 points.

THREE POINTS OF EXCELLENCE
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 684 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.

UP NEXT
The Flyers head to Florida for the 2023 Daytona Beach Invitational over the Thanksgiving Break. Dayton will open up the event Friday against Stetson at 1:15 p.m.
