AUBURN, Ala. - The University of Dayton softball team opened the Tiger Invitational with games against Austin Peay and Villanova on Friday. The Flyers dropped a 5-0 decision to the Governors and the Wildcats outlasted the Flyers, 3-2, in the second game of the day. The three-day invitational is being played at Auburn's Jane B. Moore field.
Dayton moves to 3-4 after today's games. Austin Peay moved to 1-3 and Villanova is now 4-2 overall.
GAME ONE
Austin Peay 5, Dayton 0

Alyssa Cacini led the defense with eight putouts

Izzy Kemp tallied five strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work in the circle

Emma Schutter tallied two hits, including her third double of the season

GAME TWO
Villanova 3, Dayton 2
3 - Schutter posted her fourth multi-hit game with three hits on the afternoon

Kallie Jones and senior
Ali Weekley each collected three assists

Quinn Pallardy was the second Flyer with a multi-hit game

UP NEXT
Dayton is set to play two more games on Saturday in the second day of action at the Auburn Tiger Invitational. The Flyers and Governors are scheduled for a rematch at 1 p.m. ET and Dayton will close out the day against host No. 21 Auburn at 6 p.m. ET. Both games will be available via live stats, the Auburn game will be streamed via SEC Network+.
