AUBURN, Ala. - The University of Dayton softball team opened the Tiger Invitational with games against Austin Peay and Villanova on Friday. The Flyers dropped a 5-0 decision to the Governors and the Wildcats outlasted the Flyers, 3-2, in the second game of the day. The three-day invitational is being played at Auburn's Jane B. Moore field.

Dayton moves to 3-4 after today's games. Austin Peay moved to 1-3 and Villanova is now 4-2 overall.

GAME ONE
Austin Peay 5, Dayton 0
8 - graduate student Alyssa Cacini led the defense with eight putouts
5 - freshman Izzy Kemp tallied five strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work in the circle
2 - sophomore Emma Schutter tallied two hits, including her third double of the season
Winning pitcher: Jordan Benefiel (1-2), Losing pitcher: (0-2)

GAME TWO
Villanova 3, Dayton 2
3 - Schutter posted her fourth multi-hit game with three hits on the afternoon
3 - graduate student Kallie Jones and senior Ali Weekley each collected three assists
2 - senior Quinn Pallardy was the second Flyer with a multi-hit game
Winning pitcher: K. Gallant (2-0), Save: C. Pellicano (1), Losing pitcher: Jones (1-1)

UP NEXT
Dayton is set to play two more games on Saturday in the second day of action at the Auburn Tiger Invitational. The Flyers and Governors are scheduled for a rematch at 1 p.m. ET and Dayton will close out the day against host No. 21 Auburn at 6 p.m. ET.
