ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure used second-half 8-0 run to turn a one-point game into a nine-point game, as the University of Dayton men's basketball team dropped a 68-59 decision on the road Saturday night.
DaRon Holmes II led all scorers with 21 points, while
Toumani Camara added 12 points and 17 rebounds, but the Flyer duo could not overcome a balanced Bonnie attack that featured five double figure scorers.
Dayton is now 15-9 overall, while St. Bonaventure is now 13-11 with its third straight win. Both teams are 7-4 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
First Half – St. Bonaventure 33, Dayton 26
- Dayton only needed 76 seconds to score the first five points of the game.
- St. Bona used a 10-2 burst to take a 10-7 lead at the 16:36 mark.
- The Flyers bounced back to lead 20-13 with 10:53 left in the half.
- UD's next field goal came at the 6:13 mark to give the Flyers their last lead of the game, 23-22.
- SBU closed the half on an 11-3 run (including the last six points of the half), to take a seven-point lead into the locker room.
Second Half – St. Bonaventure 68, Dayton 59
- Dayton scored eight of the second half's first 10 points to make it a one-point game three minutes into the half.
- The Bonnies responded with eight unanswered points of their own.
- Mustapha Amzil's three-pointer made it St. Bonaventure 43, Dayton 37 with 13:23 to go, but it would be a three-possession game for the final 12:49.
- UD scored eight of the game's last nine points in the last 3:11 to make it a nine-point result.
