#UDSB Picks Up Two Wins On Second Day Of APSU Governors Classic

Dayton Defeated UIC, 2-0, and Belmont, 5-3, on Sunday

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Dayton softball team closed out the Austin Peay Governors Classic with two wins on Sunday, a 2-0 victory over UIC followed by a 5-3 win over Belmont. The Flyers posted a 3-1 record on the weekend.

Dayton heads home with a 9-10 overall mark on the season. UIC is now 0-21 and Belmont moves to 13-7 for the year.

GAME ONE
Dayton 2, UIC 0
SB - three Flyers recorded a stolen base in the game: junior Kara Gunter, sophomore Emma Schutter and senior Katie Reeg
BB - four Flyers drew a walk in the contest including sophomore Maddie Kapsimalis (2) who scored what proved to be the winning run
0 - the team tallied its fourth shutout win of the season
Winning Pitcher: freshman Izzy Kemp (3-3), Save: sophomore Haven Dwyer (2), Losing Pitcher Clark (0-8)

GAME TWO
Dayton 5, Belmont 3
12 - as a team, Dayton collected 12 hits - the fourth double-digit hit game of the season for UD
3 - senior Kaelene Walter tallied a career-high three RBI on her two-out double in the fourth
3 - senior Alyssa Cacini went 3-for-3 at the plate
HR - junior Taylor Erschen knocked out her first career home run, a solo shot to lead off the seventh inning
Winning Pitcher: grad student Kallie Jones (2-3), Save: Dwyer (3), Losing Pitcher: Summers (3-4)
