DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team opened Atlantic 10 Conference play with two wins over visiting Massachusetts. The Flyers and Minutewomen battled extremely windy conditions Saturday at UD Softball Stadium as Dayton extended its winning streak to eight games.
Dayton improves to 15-10 overall and 2-0 in A-10 action while Massachusetts is now 7-17 on the season and 0-5 in league games.
GAME ONE
Dayton 9, Massachusetts 3
HR - sophomore
Maddie Kapsimalis knocked out her first collegiate home run, a solo shot in the fifth inning
SB - three Flyers recorded a stolen base in the game, including senior
Emily Daniel - her 17th of the season
10 - freshman
Izzy Kemp and graduate student
Kallie Jones combined for 10 strikeouts in the circle

GAME TWO
Dayton 11, Massachusetts 3 (5 inn.)
HR - Kapsimalis sent two balls over the fence as one of three Flyers to tally home runs in the game
SB - sophomore
Emma Schutter tallied two stolen bases, the ninth time in her career she's recorded two stolen bases in one game
14 - the team combined for a season-high 14 hits
3 - three Flyers recorded three hits in game two including graduate student
Alyssa Cacini who was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI
