INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Dayton softball team extended its winning streak to nine with a doubleheader sweep at IUPUI. The Flyers combined for 19 runs on 21 hits over the course of two games at IUPUI Softball Complex Wednesday.
Dayton improved to 28-13 on the season while IUPUI is now 12-26 overall.
GAME ONE
Dayton 11, IUPUI 6
3 - two Flyers tallied three hits in the game including junior
Kara Gunter who was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, one RBI and one walk
3 - senior
Emily Daniel also scored three runs off three hits and knocked in two
3 - sophomore
Chloe Wong drew a career-high three walks
3B - three Flyers recorded a triple in the game, the second triple of the season for all three

GAME TWO
Dayton 8, IUPUI 3
4 - junior
Elizabeth Shafer tallied a season-high four putouts in three innings of work; she also collected two hits for the Flyers
3 - senior
Katie Reeg recorded three hits, her first three-hit game of the season
2 - three Flyers scored two runs apiece and junior
Taylor Erschen knocked in two runs
SB - sophomore
Emma Schutter stole her 26th base of the season and is now eight away from tying the single-season program record (34 - Molly Meyer, 2010)

UP NEXT
Dayton will get back into Atlantic 10 Conference play with a three-game home series against second-place George Mason this weekend as UD battles to stay atop the league standings. The Flyers and Patriots are scheduled for two games Saturday starting at 12 p.m. for Alumnae Day. On Sunday, prior to the series finale, Dayton's four departing team members will be recognized for Senior Day. First pitched is slated for 12 p.m. as well. All home games are played at UD Softball Stadium and admission is free.
