Dayton Athletics To Host "The Business of NIL Community Summit”

Event Will Be At UD Arena On May 23

DAYTON – The University of Dayton Division of Athletics will host an educational seminar on Name, Image and Likeness (aka NIL) later this month.  The event, ''The Business of NIL Community Summit," will be held in UD Arena's Boesch Lounge on Tuesday, May 23 at 12 noon.  Doors open at 11:30 a.m. ET.

The summit is free and open to all businesses and organizations throughout the Miami Valley of all sizes and purposes. Lunch will be provided.

During the summit, UD Vice-President and Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan will provide a general overview of NIL, the current trends in the marketplace, its local impact in Dayton, and how the business community can support students and the student-athletes. There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers. 

Members from UD's men's basketball, women's basketball and athletic staffs will participate in the summit, along with representatives from Dayton 6th. Dayton 6th acts as a sports marketing agency and fan club for the Flyer Faithful to efficiently and legally participate in compensating Flyer student-athletes under NIL.

"We have seen organizations experience a real return on their investment when they strategically compensate for use of the Name, Image and Likeness of specific student-athletes or small group of them," Sullivan said.  "Whether it is in advertisements, promotions for products and services or personal appearances, organizations that have found value in NIL are both advancing the Dayton Flyers in a competitive environment and driving a return to their organizations, a win- win for all involved. It also serves a learning and career preparation opportunity for our students."

To prepare for lunch and manage availability, pre-registration is respectfully requested.  To register, please send an email to FlyerTickets@udayton.edu with the name of the business or organization, and the number attending. If possible, please limit the number of attendees from a single organization to four. Registration is open now and will close on Thursday, May 18 or until capacity is reached.
