Women's Basketball Takes On A-10 Leaders Richmond Saturday

The Flyers Look To Win Back-To-Back A-10 Showdowns

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's basketball team travels to the Old Dominion State to take on Atlantic 10-leading Richmond on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Robins Center.
 
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton returns to the hardwood with an 8-9 record overall and a 2-4 mark in Atlantic 10 play. The Flyers are 1-6 away from the Gem City this season.
 
Williams-Jeter is in her second season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.
 
The Flyers are averaging 66.6 points per game and giving up 69.9 points to opposing teams. Dayton is shooting 41.2 percent overall, 31.1 percent from three point range, and 72.2 percent from the free throw line.
 
Leading the way for the Flyers is junior Ivy Wolf with 12.6 points per game while redshirt senior Destiny Bohanon is chipping in 11.1 points and junior Arianna Smith is averaging a double-double with 10.2 points and 11.3 boards per game.
 
SCOUTING RICHMOND
Richmond comes into the weekend with a 16-3 record on the year and 6-0 A-10 record. The Spiders are unbeaten in the Robins Center this season with a perfect 8-0 mark. They're coming off a five-point road win at Davidson, 59-54, earlier this week.
 
Head coach Aaron Roussell is in his fifth season at Richmond and has the Spiders in first place in the Atlantic 10.
 
As a team, the Spiders are scoring 74.1 points each outing and holding opponents to 61.3 points per game. Richmond is shooting 47.2 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from behind the arc, and 77.8 percent from the free throw line.
 
The Spiders are led by Maggie Doogan with 16.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while Grace Townsend is contributing 12.8 points and 4.8 rebounds each contest. Rachel Ullstrom and Addie Budnik are also over 10 points-per-game, putting up 11.4 and 11.1 per contest, respectively.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Spiders will play their 31st contest against each other with UD holding a 19-11 series advantage. Dayton fell in the most recent meeting a season ago, 71, 60, in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Wilmington, Del.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton led for all but 57 seconds against George Washington Wednesday night, rolling to a 71-53 victory over the Revolutionaries at UD Arena. Mariah Perez led the way with a double-double of 15 points and a season-high 13 rebounds, while Ivy Wolf led the Flyers with 16 points and a career-best eight assists.
 
Richmond came away with a tough road victory, 59-54, at Davidson on Wednesday night. The Spiders withstood a furious second half comeback by the Wildcats, outscoring the hosts 10-7 in the fourth quarter to hang on to the win.
 
LEADING THE CONFERENCE
Junior Arianna Smith currently leads the A-10 in offensive rebounds (5.0), rebounds per game (11.3), and double doubles (8). She ranks fourth in the country in offensive boards, ninth in rebounds per game, and 13th in total rebounds.
 
UP NEXT
The Flyers return to the friendly confines of UD Arena Wednesday, Jan. 24 for its annual School Day, this year with an 11 a.m. tipoff against VCU.
