DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team returns home to host VCU on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. for the annual School Day game. It is expected to be a full house so please plan your travel to the game accordingly.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton begins a three-game home stretch with an 8-10 record overall and 2-5 Atlantic 10 mark, sitting in 11th in the league standings. UD is 5-3 at home this season.

Williams-Jeter is in her second season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.

The Flyers are averaging 65.1 points per game and giving up 70.0 points to opponents this year. Dayton is shooting 40.4 percent overall, 29.9 percent from three point range, and 72.9 percent from the free throw line. UD ranks 21st in the nation with a +9.1 rebounding margin.

Leading the way for the Flyers is junior Ivy Wolf with 12.1 points per game while redshirt senior Destiny Bohanon is chipping in 11.1 points and junior Arianna Smith is adding a double-double with 10.3 points and 11.3 boards each outing.

SCOUTING VCU
VCU is off to one of the best starts in program history with a 16-2 record on the year and 5-1 A-10 record. The Rams have won four in a row and are undefeated at 9-0 at home. Both of VCU's losses have come on the road at James Madison and Richmond, UD's last opponent.

Head coach Beth O'Boyle is in her 10th season with the Rams and ranks second in program history in all-time wins.

As a team, the Rams boast the nation's leading defense at 50.2 points allowed per game and ranks second nationally in three point percentage defense. VCU is scoring 62.9 points per game while shooting 40.5 percent from the floor, 35.1 percent from behind the arc, and 70.9 percent from the charity stripe.

The Rams are led by All-Conference performer Sarah Te-Biasu with 13.9 points per game while leading the team in assists and steals as well. Timaya Lewis-Eutsey is contributing 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds each outing while Mary-Anna Asare is adding 11.5 points per game and shooting 45.8 percent from three.

SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Rams have met 18 times previously with Dayton holding a 13-5 series advantage. UD won both meetings last year including the A-10 Tournament first round match-up on March 1, 67-61.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton struggled offensively and had a short-handed lineup in a 72-39 loss at Richmond on Saturday. The Flyers were unable to overcome a slow start despite Arianna Smith's ninth double-double of the season.

VCU remained undefeated at home this year at 9-0 with a 66-50 victory over La Salle on Saturday. The Rams outscored the Explorers 26-9 in the third quarter and had 22 points and 11 rebounds from Timaya Lewis-Eutsey in the win.

LEADING THE CONFERENCE
Junior Arianna Smith currently leads the A-10 in offensive rebounds, rebounds per game, total rebounds, and double doubles. She ranks fifth in the country in offensive boards, eighth in boards per game, and 15th in total rebounds.

UP NEXT
The Flyers remain at UD Arena during their home stretch when they host St. Bonaventure on Sunday, Jan. 28. It will be the first nationally televised game for Dayton this year on CBS Sports Network.

DOUBLING-UP
Junior Arianna Smith has already recorded nine double-doubles this season and is averaging that per game. She posted those against Lindenwood, SIUE, Wichita St., Davidson, Ohio Dominican, Massachusetts, Loyola Chicago, Saint Louis, and Richmond.

RECORD-SETTING DAY
Smith grabbed 21 rebounds in the win over Ohio Dominican on Dec. 17, the fifth-most in a single game in program history. She did so with former Dayton rebounding legend JaVonna Layfield ('18) in attendance, who has three of the top five performances in school history.
