DAYTON – A partnership that dates back 73 years will resume again when WHIO-TV Channel 7 will locally televise two University of Dayton men's basketball games this season. WHIO will air the Northwestern game on Saturday, Nov. 9 and the Lehigh game on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The local CBS affiliate first broadcast Flyer games during the 1951-52 season, but this will be the first time a regular season game has aired on WHIO since March 8, 2014 when Richmond and UD closed out the 2013-14 regular season.
"The long-standing relationship between WHIO-TV and Dayton Flyers basketball has spanned decades and was a cornerstone of our local sports community," Dayton Vice-President Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan said. "As each of our businesses changed and evolved, we continued our commitment to the community and a passion for basketball remains at the heart of this relationship. We are excited for this opportunity to bring the excitement of the game to fans throughout the region once again on WHIO-TV."
"WHIO has celebrated a relationship with UD Basketball in both radio and television for over 50 years," Darren Moore, Vice-President and General Manager of WHIO-TV and Radio, said. "There's nothing bigger in our community. We're proud to again broadcast two games this season on Channel 7."
The remainder of the UD men's basketball schedule's television outlets and game times will be announced at a later date.
