DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team returned home with a dominating victory, 65-38 over Central Connecticut State on Sunday.
The Flyers improved to 5-3 on the campaign while the Blue Devils to 1-8 on the season.
GAME BREAKDOWN
1st Quarter: Dayton 15, Central Connecticut St. 8
- Senior Arianna Smith initiated the Flyers' offense with the first basket, assisted by senior Ivy Wolf on an out-of-bounds play.
- Graduate student Rikki Harris followed with a smooth left-handed layup at the 9:02 mark, capitalizing on a fast break assist from Smith.
- At 5:45, Smith struck again after forcing a Blue Devils turnover, scoring off a pass from graduate Nicole Stephens.
- Wolf extended the Flyers' momentum with a strong drive to the hoop, maintaining their 12-5 lead at 4:06.
- Junior Nayo Lear added a smooth floater in the paint, pushing the lead to 14-5 at 2:10.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 24 , Central Connecticut St. 18
- Wolf kept the pressure on with another driving layup, keeping the Flyers ahead 17-8.
- Smith bolstered her impressive first half with a rebound putback off a missed three-pointer while Harris finished a tough basket at the 3:00 mark, assisted by Stephens.
- Freshman Olivia Leung capped the quarter with her first bucket—a three-point dagger assisted by sophomore Eve Fiala—keeping Dayton firmly in control, 24-15, at 2:14.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 46, Central Connecticut St. 27
- Smith continued her strong performance by finishing the and-one off a beautiful fast break pass from Harris at 8:36.
- After a Blue Devil bucket, Flyers wasted no time and responded right back with a smooth quick bucket by Smith off the assist from Lear.
- It was Smith again continuing her dominant performance for the Flyers with another bucket at 05:58 mark to keep Flyers strong lead 31-20.
- Wolf kept it going for the Flyers off the fast break with a strong finish at the hoop to keep Dayton in commanding lead 33-24 at 4:39 mark.
- Off a missed three, Lear found junior Shannon Wheeler for her first bucket off the put back at 3:13.
- Wolf continued her strong performance for the Flyers with by securing the and-one that kept Dayton in complete control 39-24.
- Wheeler got herself another one with a strong move in the post at 1:40 to keep Dayton in front 41-27 with the assist to Leung.
- Wolf secured her first dagger off the quick pass from Lear to cap.
- Wheeler capped off the quarter with a quick layup as time expired.
4th Quarter: Dayton , Central Connecticut St.
- Harris started the quarter off with a layup that beat the press that kept Dayton in control 48-29.
- Wolf again knocked down a dagger off a beautiful baseline pass from sophomore Ajok Madol at 07:43 mark.
- Smith continued to dominate in the second half by drawing the foul and securing the and-one off the missed three to keep Dayton in smooth control 54-30 at 05:57 mark.
- Madol got herself her first bucket to beat the press at 5:01 mark.
- Freshman Kamryn Grant got her first bucket by drawing a foul and knocking down a pair from the charity stripe.

Arianna Smith secured her second double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Her 20 points were a new career high.

Ivy Wolf scored 15 points for the Flyers
