DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team opens up Atlantic 10 play on Sunday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at the University of Richmond.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton finished up the non-conference portion of the schedule with a winning record for the second-straight season, going 6-5 overall. The Flyers are looking for their first win away from home this year.
Head coach
Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her third season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.
The Flyers are averaging 65.0 points per game and giving up 64.0 point to opponents. Dayton is shooting 40.6 percent overall, 27.4 percent from three point range, and 71.2 percent from the free throw line. UD benefits from a +4.1 rebounding margin, but has more turnovers.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
RICHMOND
Richmond got off to a strong start to the season, but has lost three straight against tough opposing teams such as No. 6 Texas and No. 18 Tennessee. The Spiders are 3-2 at home and undefeated in true road contests.
Head coach Aaron Roussell is in his sixth year at UR and is the reigning A-10 Coach of the Year after leading the Spiders to both regular season and A-10 tournament titles last year.
As a team, Richmond is outscoring opposing squads 72.4 to 59.0 points each contest. The Spiders are shooting 49.4 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from behind the arc, and 73.7 percent from the charity stripe. UR ranks sixth in the country in field goal percentage and 19th in the nation in three point percentage.
Powering the offense for the Spiders is Rachel Ullstrom with 16.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while Maggie Doogan is chipping in 14.5 points and 6.2 boards per contest.
SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Spiders are meeting for the 33rd time in program history with Dayton holding a 19-13 series advantage. Richmond has won the last three match-ups including the last contest in the second round of the 2024 A-10 Tournament, 70-57.
