DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team finishes up the regular season Saturday against Rhode Island at 12 p.m. at UD Arena. There will be a Senior Day ceremony after the completion of the contest.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton heads into the season finale with an 11-17 record overall and 5-12 Atlantic 10 mark. The Flyers are 7-6 at home this year and looking to end a two-game losing skid.
Williams-Jeter is in her second season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.
The Flyers are averaging 64.4 points per game and giving up 69.1 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 40.6 percent overall, 30.2 percent from three point range, and 73.9 percent from the free throw line. UD is the one of the top rebounding teams in the league and ranks 15th in the country with a +8.3 margin.
Leading the way for the Flyers is junior
Ivy Wolf with 11.9 points and 3.4 assists per game while redshirt senior
Destiny Bohanon is chipping in 10.2 points each outing. Junior
Arianna Smith is averaging nearly a double-double with 9.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
Rhode Island heads into the final game of the season with a 17-13 record on the year and 9-8 A-10 mark. The Rams are also on a two-game losing streak and are 5-8 in road games this season.
Head coach Tammi Reiss is in her fifth season with the Rams and was named A-10 Coach of the Year last year.
As a team, Rhode Island is scoring 64.1 points each outing while holding opposing squads to 57.0 points per game. The Rams are shooting 40.9 percent from the field, 29.8 percent from behind the arc, and 65.8 percent from the charity stripe. URI has +5.9 rebounding and +2.3 turnover margins as well.
The Rams have a balanced offensive attack with four players averaging over 11.0 points per game. Maya Toure leads the way with 13.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while Teisha Hyman is contributing 11.5 points and 5.6 boards each contest.
SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Rams have played 32 times previously with Dayton holding a 27-5 series advantage. Rhode Island was victorious at home in last year's meeting 81-57, but UD had won the previous 19 contests.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton played its final road game of the regular season and suffered a 78-53 loss to George Mason Wednesday. The Flyers got off to a slow start and despite 18-points from
Ivy Wolf, they were unable to match the Patriots.
Rhode Island dropped a 69-59 decision at home to VCU on Wednesday night. The URI Rams outscored the VCU Rams 20-12 in the fourth, but it was not enough for the comeback. Dee Dee Davis led the way with 23 points and was 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
