Men’s Basketball To Play Nevada In NCAA Tournament

Flyers & Wolf Pack Will Meet Up In Salt Lake On Thursday

DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's basketball team will play Nevada on Thursday, March 21 in the First Round of the NCAA tournament in Salt Lake City.  

Dayton is the seventh seed in the West Region.

The Flyers, ranked 24th in last week's AP and Coaches polls, is 24-7 overall and was third in the A-10 at 14-4 during the regular season. 

Dayton coach Anthony Grant is one of six coaches who has his alma mater in this year's tournament.  The others are Hubert Davis of North Carolina, Jamie Dixon of TCU, Andy Kennedy of UAB, Matt Painter of Purdue and Jon Scheyer of Duke.

This is UD's 19th NCAA appearance.  The Flyers have reached the Final Four once (1967), the Elite Eight three times (1967, 1984 and 2014), and the Sweet Sixteen seven times (1952, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1974, 1984 and 2014).  Dayton reached the NCAA championship game in 1967, losing to the first of the Lew Alcindor UCLA teams.  Grant played on the 1984 team.

UD Athletics completed its ticket request process last week, and will notify anyone who is receiving tickets from UD by noon tomorrow.
