Women's Basketball Opens A-10 Championship Wednesday vs St. Bonaventure

The Flyers And Bonnies Tip-Off At 2:30 p.m. In The First Round

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will travel to the Henrico Sports & Events Center outside Richmond, Va. to compete in the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship tournament. The No. 11 seed Flyers will take on No. 14 seed St. Bonaventure at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton finished the regular season with an 11-18 record overall and 5-13 A-10 mark. The Flyers have lost three in a row, but are 2-0 in neutral site games this year.

Williams-Jeter is in her second season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.

The Flyers are averaging 63.6 points per game and giving up 69.4 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 40.0 percent overall, 29.3 percent from three point range, and 73.6 percent from the free throw line. UD benefits from a +7.5 rebounding margin, but faces a -4.1 turnover margin.

Leading the way for the Flyers is junior Ivy Wolf with 11.9 points and 3.2 assists per game and redshirt senior Destiny Bohanon with 10.1 points each outing. Junior Arianna Smith is nearly averaging a double-double with 9.3 pionts and 10.7 boards each contest.

SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
St. Bonaventure wrapped-up its regular season with a 4-25 record, a 1-17 A-10 mark, and a 17-game losing streak. The Bonnies will face the Flyers in their first neutral site game of the year.

Head coach Jim Crowley returns to St. Bonaventure after a stint at Providence from 2016-23.

As a team, the Bonnies are scoring 54.8 points each game and allowing 66.5 points to opposing squads. SBU is shooting 36.1 percent from the field, 27.5 percent from behind the arc, and 73.3 percent from the charity stripe. The Bonnies have to overcome negative rebounding and turnover margins as well.

St. Bonaventure is powered by Dani Haskell with 12.3 points per game while Isabellah Middleton is chipping in 11.4 points and a team-high 5.8 rebounds each outing.

SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Bonnies are meeting for the 34th time in program history with Dayton holding a 22-11 series advantage. UD won the contest earlier this season at home, 64-43, but St. Bonaventure was victorious last year, 54-43.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton ended the regular season with a 77-42 loss at home to Rhode Island. The Flyers shot just 23.4 percent from the floor and were 0-of-13 from three in the defeat.

St. Bonaventure suffered a 61-46 loss at home as well to A-10 Champions Richmond. Isabellah Middletone scored a team-high 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting, but it was not enough for the Bonnies.

IN A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY
Dayton has an overall record of 28-72 in its 28th appearance in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Flyers have previously won A-10 Championship titles in 2012, 2017, and 2020).

UP NEXT
If victorious Wednesday, the Flyers will move on to face No. 6 seed Rhode Island on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
