DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team dropped two games to visiting Akron Wednesday at UD Softball Stadium. The Zips clipped the Flyers 1-0 in game one and claimed the game-two win by an 8-4 margin.
Dayton will head into this weekend's Atlantic 10 series at Fordham with an 18-16 overall mark while Akron improved to 18-20 on the season after today's games.
GAME ONE
Akron 1, Dayton 0

Maddie Kapsimalis extended her reached-base streak to 25 games which is tied for the longest current reached-base streak in DI (Madisyn Kennedy - Mississippi State)

Emma Schutter tallied three hits in the game, her second three-hit game of the season
2 - graduate student
Kaelene Walter was a perfect 2-for-2 with one run scored as the second Flyer with a multi-hit game
Win - Mallory Herwerden (1-0). Loss -
Sami Scholtz (0-1). Save - Cailey Joyce (2).
UP NEXT
Dayton returns to conference action this weekend with a trip to the Big Apple for a three-game set at Fordham. The Flyers and Rams are tied for third place in A-10 standings with an 8-4 mark in league games heading into the series. The games will be played at Fordham's Bahoshy Field and admission is free.
