Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Dayton men's basketball team fell behind early and never recovered, dropping its Atlantic 10 road opener to George Washington 82-62 on Saturday afternoon at the Charles E. Smith Center.
The Revolutionaries led wire-to-wire, scoring the first eight points of the game and holding off multiple comeback attempts by the Flyers over the rest of the game.

First Half -- George Washington 43,
Dayton 27
- The Revolutionaries began the game on an 8-0 run.
- Junior Javon Bennett got the Flyers on the board with a three at 17:46.
- Senior Nate Santos brought it within two at 8-6 with a three of his own.
- GW scored the 20 of the next 28 points to build a 28-11 lead.
- The Flyers cut the deficit to 11 with just 0:56 to go on a Malachi Smith layup.
- A heave from three by the Revs as time expired brought the score to its first-half final.
- Dayton shot just 30-percent in the opening half while George Washington hit at a 44-percent clip.
Second Half – George Washington 82, Dayton 62
- The Flyers used a 9-0 run to start the second half that swelled to 16-5 over the first 4:13 to cut into the halftime deficit.
- A three-pointer from redshirt senior Posh Alexander at 12:38 cut the UD deficit to just three at 54-51.
- GW scored seven of the next 10 points when junior Isaac Jack sank a pair of free throws at 9:17 to bring the score back within five.
- A driving layup by Bennett at 6:32 made it a four-point game once again.
- Despite multiple chances to inch closer, Dayton never got closer than four the rest of the game.
- GW pushed its advantage back to double-digits with a layup at 2:38.
- The Revs got the dagger on a deep three with 1:10 to go to push their advantage to 17.
- Dayton was held without a basket over the final 3:30 of the contest, leading to a George Washington run of 13-0.
