Women's Basketball Heads Back To Richmond To Face VCU Sunday

The Flyers And Rams Battle For Their Second A-10 Win Of The Season

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team returns to Richmond this weekend to take on VCU Sunday, Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. at the Siegel Center.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton heads into the weekend with a 7-6 record overall and 1-1 Atlantic 10 mark. The Flyers are coming off a big 38-point win over Loyola Chicago Thursday and will look to earn their first road win of the season.

Head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her third season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.

The Flyers are averaging 64.2 points per game and holding opponents to just 61.8 points each outing. Dayton is shooting 40.9 percent overall, 28.3 percent from three point range, and 71.9 percent from the free throw line. UD has a +3.2 turnover margin, but is committing more turnovers.

Leading the way for the Flyers are seniors Ivy Wolf with 15.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game and Arianna Smith with 10.0 points and 8.3 rebounds each contest.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
VCU

VCU sits at .500 on the year with a 7-7 record and is also 1-1 in A-10 play. The Rams are 5-2 at home and earned a hard-fought two-point win over Duquesne at the Siegel Center last outing. VCU has won two of their last three as well.

Head coach Beth O'Boyle is in her 11th season and is the winningest coach in program history.

As a team, the Rams are scoring 60.1 points each contest and allowing only 54.6 points to opposing squads. VCU is shooting 40.3 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from behind the arc, and 67.0 percent from the charity stripe. The Rams have a +4.9 rebounding margin.

VCU is led by Mary-Anna Asare with 16.2 points per game and is coming off a 37-point performance against the Dukes. Timaya Lewis-Eutsey is chipping in 14.5 points per contest while Mykel Parham leads the team with 9.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.

SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Rams are meeting for the 20th time in program history with UD holding a 13-6 series advantage. VCU won last year's match-up on Jan. 24 in Dayton, 73-62.
