Women's Basketball Travels To Purdue Sunday

Tip-Off Is At 12 p.m. In West Lafayette

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball program returns to action this Sunday, Dec. 14 at Purdue University after the week off for final exams. Tip-off is at 12 p.m. ET at Mackey Arena.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton has had a roller-coaster start to the season so far with a 5-4 record overall and 0-1 Atlantic 10 mark. The Flyers are 1-2 in true road games this season.

Head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter finished her fourth season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.

The Flyers are averaging 67.6 points per game while holding opponents to 66.3 points each outing. Dayton is shooting 44.9 percent overall, 31.2 percent from three point range, and 70.2 percent from the free throw line. UD has a +4.6 rebounding margin.

Senior Nayo Lear leads the team with 15.6 points per game while junior Fatima Ibrahim is chipping in 9.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest. Freshman MG Talle has had a strong start to her career with 9.0 points and 4.0 rebounds the past two games.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
PURDUE

Purdue enters the weekend on game two of a five-game home stretch and coming off a big win Thursday to start things off. The Boilers are 6-4 overall this year and 6-0 at Mackey Arena. No opponent has been within 10 points of the Boilermakers on Purdue's home floor.

Head coach Katie Gearlds is in her fifth season at her alma mater and was inducted into the Purdue Hall of Fame from her playing days in 2024.

As a team, the Boilers are scoring 71.2 points each outing and allowing just 64.4 points to opposing squads. Purdue is averaging 45.0 percent from the floor, 34.8 percent from behind the arc, and 72.1 percent from the charity stripe.

Purdue is led by the duo of Tara Daye with 11.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and Kiki Smith with 11.0 points, 2.5 assists, and 17 made threes.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton defended its home court with an 81-72 win over LIU last Sunday before finals break. Nayo Lear scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Flyers back from a 13-point deficit.

Purdue cruised to an 88-45 home victory over Lipscomb Thursday morning for the Boilers' school day game. The hosts outscored the visitors 52-17 in the first half and that would be all they needed to clinch the win.

SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and Purdue are meeting for the 15th time in program history with the Flyers holding a narrow lead, 8-6. The Boilers won the last contest on Dec. 1, 2023, 67-59, at UD Arena, but the Flyers won the last matchup at Mackey Arena in 2021.
