DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will host Davidson College on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. for the annual School Day game at UD Arena.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is looking to end its two-game losing skid as the Flyers sit at 13-10 on the year and 7-5 in Atlantic 10 play. UD has lost three of its last four and looks to improve its position in the conference standings as postseason approaches.
Head coach
Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her third season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.
The Flyers are averaging 65.2 points per game and giving up 64.0 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 41.9 percent overall, 31.9 percent from three point range, and 69.6 percent from the free throw line. UD benefits from a +2.6 rebounding margin as well.
Leading the way for the Flyers are seniors
Ivy Wolf with 16.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game and
Arianna Smith with 12.1 points and 9.3 boards each outing.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
DAVIDSON
Davidson on the other hand is on a three-game winning streak, including two on the road during that span. The Wildcats are 13-11 on the season and 8-4 in A-10 play, a game ahead of the Flyers in the league.
Head coach Gayle Fulks is in her eighth season at the helm of the Cats.
As a team, Davidson is scoring 64.5 points each contest and holding opposing squads to 59.4 points each game. The Wildcats are averaging 42.4 percent from the field, 34.6 percent from behind the arc, and 69.6 percent from the charity stripe.
The Wildcats are powered by the trio of Charlise Dunn (11.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg), Katie Donovan (10.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg), and Issy Morgan (10.2 ppg, 2.4 rpg). Millie Prior provides some defense with 27 steals and 17 steals in 19 games.
SERIES HISTORY
The Flyers and Wildcats are meeting for the 14th time in program history with Dayton holding a 12-1 series advantage. Davidson did win the last outing and its first victory in the match-up, 81-53 at home last season.
