KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Dayton women's basketball team went on the road to the University of Rhode Island Saturday and suffered a 57-36 loss.

The Flyers (13-10, 7-5 A-10) drop a game behind the Rams (13-12, 8-4 A-10) in the Atlantic 10 standings.

GAME BREAKDOWN
Â
1st Quarter: Dayton 7, Rhode Island 14
- Dayton was the first to strike with a contested bucket from senior Arianna Smith.
- Rhode Island got its first points at the 7:02 mark with a pair of free throws as UD forced them 0-of-3 from the floor to start.
- The Rams took their first lead of the game, 4-2, with 5:54 on the clock while the Flyers had a four-plus minute scoring drought. That score held at the media break with both teams shooting under 17 percent.
- Rhody came alive out of the timeout and pushed their lead to 10-2 over the next two minutes.
- Graduate student Rikki Harris hit a three at the top of the corner to end another skid by the Flyers.
2nd Quarter: Dayton 11, Rhode Island 31
- UD got two quick fouls in the second and URI opened with a 5-0 run to force a Flyer timeout with 8:14 on the clock and a 19-7 deficit.
- A drive and bucket from sophomore Denika Lightbourne at the 4:45 mark was the first points of the quarter for the Flyers.
- Dayton held Rhode Island for a nearly four-minute drought of its own as UD attempted to fight its way back with just over three to play.
- The Rams extended their lead to 29-11 heading into the final minute of the second.
- Lightbourne had a team-high four points at the half.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 22, Rhode Island 48
- Dayton scored on the first possession on a nice drive and finish from senior Ivy Wolf.
- Grad student Nicole Stephens hit a couple of nice pullups to give her six points on the game.
- The Flyers scored eight points in the first three minutes of the third, the most for a quarter in the contest already.
- Midway through the quarter, the score was 37-21 in favor of the Rams as the Flyers were outscoring them 10-6 and holding them during a 2:30 drought.
- Rhody went on another tear, going on an 11-0 run to push its lead to 48-21 by the 1:30 mark.
4th Quarter: Dayton 36, Rhode Island 57
- UD continued to fight despite the deficit, battling for loose balls and rebounds in the opening few minutes of the fourth.
- Wolf drilled her first three of the game at the 7:25 mark, the second for UD.
- At the media timeout, the Flyers had outscored the Rams 7-4 in the quarter and Stephens became the first Dayton player in double digits with 10.
- UD rode an 8-0 run of its own over 3:19 to get some momentum in the visitors' favor and held URI to a four-plus minute drought.
