DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team earned the program's second-consecutive and third overall Atlantic 10 Conference Regular Season Title with its wins over George Mason Sunday. Dayton downed Mason, 9-1 (6 inn.), in game one and closed out the regular season with a 5-3 win in game two.
Dayton improves to 29-16 overall and 17-5 in league games. George Mason closes the season with an 18-35 record, including a 9-16 mark in conference action.
GAME ONE
Dayton 9, George Mason 1 (6 inn.)
14 - the team combined for a total of 14 hits, the fifth-consecutive game with double-digit hits, and five Flyers had multi-hit games
11 - junior
Izzy Kemp recorded 11 strikeouts over six innings of work, her eight game this season with double-digit Ks
4 - senior
Maddie Kapsimalis batted in four runs and she leads the team with 11 multi-RBI games on the year
2 - junior
Molly Grace was 2-for-3 with two RBI and freshman
Ella Holman was 2-for-3 with two runs scored
Win - Kemp (13-4). Loss - Jordan Tallman (2-8). Save - None.
GAME TWO
Dayton 5, George Mason 3
3 - the Flyers scored three runs in the fifth to retake the lead over the Patriots
2 - senior
Emma Schutter was 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and her career-high-tying 29th stolen base
2B - Kapsimalis recorded her third double of the day and she now has a team-best 11 on the season
