ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (5-3-2) looks to continue its strong start to Atlantic 10 action against the Dukes. The Flyers played their A-10 home opener on Thurday night against Loyola Chicago, winning 2-0. Senior Kyra Karfonta scored her first goal of the season on a PK, while Laney Smith regained the team lead in goals after scoring her third of the campaign. Keeper Batoul Reda and the UD defense posted their seventh shutout of the season.

SCOUTING DUQUESNE

Duquesne boasts one of the top goal scorers in the league, as Maya Matesa has netted a league-best 11. Brianna Moore also boasts double digit points thanks to five goals and two assists. Keeper Ali Hughes has a goals-against average of 0.90.

SERIES STUFF
The Flyers have dominated the all-time series with the Dukes, posting a 19-3-3 record dating back to 1995. Dayton is unbeaten in its last five matches against Duquesne (3-0-2), winning in Pittsburgh last season by a final of 2-1. Kyra Karfonta scored one of the goals thanks to a Maddie Bowman assist. Karfonta and Bre Mendoza assisted on the other.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Flyers kicked off the home portion of the A-10 schedule with a convincing 2-0 victory over Loyola on Thursday night.
• Loyola came in ranked No. 41 in the RPI and had allowed just 0.333 goals per contest.
Kyra Karfonta netted the first goal of the night courtesy of a penalty kick, putting the Flyers ahead in the 38th minute of the competition. Redshirt sophomore Olivia Baca drew the foul on the Ramblers defense inside the box to set up the tally.
• The two sides played even throughout the second half when Laney Smith provided the dagger in the 86th minute. UD threatened on a lob through the box when sophomore Lauryn Contini settled the ball and found Smith outside the box. The Fort Thomas, Ky. native smashed a low shot from 20-feet and beat the keeper for the dagger.
• Dayton's defense shined, as senior keeper Batoul Reda along with the defensive unit of Bre Mendoza, Lauren Fields, Caroline Schork, Ella Raimondi and Kyra Karfonta tallied their seventh shutout of the season and third consecutive clean sheet.

 • The rookie has played in all nine matches this season, averaging 34.3 minutes per game.
