DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's basketball team fell short against Richmond in Wednesday night's game.

The Flyers (9-8, 2-4 A-10) dropped a decision to the Atlantic 10 favorite Spiders (15-4, 5-1 A-10) in a competitive shooting battle.Â

1st Quarter – Dayton 15, Richmond 27
- Senior Nayo Lear started the Flyers off with a layup.
- Sophomore Molly O'Riordan got the offensive rebound and tipped it in for two.
- Graduate student Nicole Stephens made a three pointer after a turnover.
- After getting the offensive rebound, junior Fatima Ibrahim put in a bucket in the paint.
- Sophomore Olivia Leung made a layup with 2:18 remaining in the first quarter.
- Freshman M.G. Talle went two-for-two at the line for the Flyer's final points of the quarter.
2nd Quarter – Dayton 28, Richmond 38
- Stephens scored off of a fast break in the first minute of the second quarter.
- Junior Jayda Johnson sunk a three-point shot shortly after, lessening the gap.
- Johnson met the rim to add two points to the board at the 6:05 mark.
- Talle made a layup off of an opponent turnover making the score Dayton 24, Richmond 32.
- Stephens knocked down a jump shot with 3:32 to go in the half.
- Lear made a jumper in the paint.

3rd Quarter – Dayton 48, Richmond 59
- Stephens made a jump shot to kick off the second half.
- Junior Ajok Madol made a layup for her first points of the game.
- O'Riordan put in a second-chance layup at the 7:27 mark.
- Stephens drained a three after finding the assist from Lear.
- Talle made a jumper with 4:18 remaining in the third quarter.
- Less than a minute later, Talle drove and put it a layup for her ninth point, making the score Richmond 50, Dayton 42.
- Ibrahim kept the Flyer scoring going with a made layup at the 2:10 mark.
- Lear went coast to coast and made a solo layup to score the Flyer's last points of the quarter.

4th Quarter – Dayton 67, Richmond 85
- Leung came out firing and scored the Flyer's first bucket in the final quarter in the first 22 seconds.
- Stephens sank a jumper to continue consistent second half Dayton scoring.
- Ibrahim got the offensive rebound then met the rim to put in a layup.
- Stephens put in a jump shot following an opponent turnover with 6:56 remaining.
- Stephens continued to fight and made another shot in the paint for her 18th point of the game.
- Lear made a second chance layup, followed by Leung with a layup shortly after at the 3:46 mark.
- Madol knocked down a corner three off of a fast break.Â
- Leung made a layup under tough defensive pressure at 2:13.Â

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- 18 - Nicole Stephens had a season-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
- 11 - Olivia Leung chipped in 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Â
- 9 and 9 - MG Talle had a career-high nine rebounds to go with nine points.
- 57.4% - Richmond shot a season-high 57.4 percent and tied a season high with 15 made threes.Â
- 13 - Dayton had its fewest turnovers of the season with 13.
