Women's Basketball Faces George Washington On National TV

The Flyers Look To Avenge The Road Loss To The Revs In December

DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team finishes up the home stand with a rematch against George Washington University Sunday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. on USA Network. 

SCOUTING THE FLYERS 
Dayton will be on national TV for the second straight Sunday as the Flyers welcome GW with a nearly identical record of 11-10 on the year and 4-6 in Atlantic 10 play. The Flyers are coming off a home win over St. Bonaventure midweek and have won two of its last three.

Head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her fourth season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State. 

The Flyers are averaging 66.3 points per game and giving up 67.6 points to opponents. Dayton is shooting 43.1 percent overall, 30.2 percent from three point range,a nd 66.2 percent from the free throw line. UD benefits from a +5.8 rebounding margin as well. 

Leading the way for the Flyers is senior Nayo Lear with 15.1 points per game while grad student Nicole Stephens is adding 10.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
GEORGE WASHINGTON

George Washington comes to Dayton with a 12-11 record on the season and 4-6 A-10 mark. The Revolutionaries are 2-6 on the road this season, but winners of two straight contests. 

Head coach Ganiyat Adeduntan is in her first season at the helm of GW, coming over after four seasons and two WNIT appearances at Colgate. 

As a team, the Revs are scoring 62.4 points each outing and holding opposing squads to 60.1 points. GW is averaging 41.8 percent from the field, 31.2 percent from behind the arc, and 73.9 percent from the charity stripe. 

All-Conference candidates Gabby Reynolds (13.3 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 31 3pt FGs) and Sara Lewis (10.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 78 FTs made) power the GW attack while Kamari Sims has started all 23 games and leads the team in assists.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton picked up a big home win over St. Bonaventure Wednesday, 75-71. The Flyers were powered by the sophomore duo of Molly O'Riordan with a double-double and Olivia Leung with 20 points. 

GW was also victorious last time out, holding on for a 64-62 win over Saint Louis Wednesday. The Revs rallied in the fourth to eek out the home victory over the Billikens. 

SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and George Washington are meeting for the second time this season and 53rd time in program history. The Revs are leading the series 35-17 including a home win in the A-10 opener back on Dec. 3, 54-42.

UP NEXT
Dayton heads back out on the road to take on La Salle University Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Philadelphia.
