ELON, N.C. - The University of Dayton softball team extended its winning streak to six games after defeating Elon, 9-8, and Mount St. Mary's, 3-1, Saturday at the Phoenix Invitational. UD's Sunday game against host Elon has been cancelled due to impending poor weather conditions in the area.
Dayton improves to 7-1 on the season while Elon is now 1-7 overall and Mount St. Mary's moves to 1-4.
GAME ONE
Dayton 9, Elon 8
5 - Dayton scored five runs in the top of the seventh to secure the come-from-behind win
3 - junior
Kirnan Bailey was 3-for-5 with two runs scored
HR - sophomore
Katelin Goodwin knocked out her second home run of the season, a two-run long ball in the first inning
RBI - Goodwin collected four RBI in the game, including knocking in what proved to be the winning run with her two-RBI single in the seventh

Izzy Kemp fanned 10 of the 13 batters she faced for her third double-digit K game of the season

Deirdre Flaherty knocked out her first home run of the season, bringing across the winning run
Win - Kemp (3-0). Loss - Sophia Vlahos (0-1). Save - None.
UP NEXT
Dayton's game against Elon orginally scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 15 has been cancelled due to forecasted inclement weather in the area tomorrow. UD will take next weekend off before returning to action at Kentucky's John Cropp Classic Feb. 27-March 1. Dayton will play a total of five games against Michigan State, Murray State and host Kentucky at UK's John Cropp Stadium in Lexington.
