ST. LOUIS - The University of Dayton softball team was eliminated from post-season play Friday on the third day of the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship. Third-seeded Dayton dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 4 Fordham in the first game of the day and fell to top-seeded Loyola Chicago in come-from-behind fashion, 8-7, in the nightcap.
Dayton closes out the 2026 season with a 26-24 overall record. Fordham (26-26) and Loyola Chicago (28-23) will battle for the tournament title Saturday.
GAME ONE
Fordham 4, Dayton 1

Deirdre Flaherty knocked out her first home run of the day in the sixth inning

Kirnan Bailey stole her Dayton single-season record 42nd base of the season
4 - sophomore
Ella Holman equaled her season high with four putouts in left field

Loyola Chicago 8, Dayton 7
HR - freshman
Hayden Baird recorded her first career home run in the second inning
HR - Flaherty sent her second home run of the day and third of the tournament over the fence in the third, her career- and team-high eighth of the season
HR - Bailey also recorded her first career home run, a two-run shot in the fourth inning
2 - sophomore
Katelin Goodwin was one of three Flyers with two hits after going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored
Win - Anna Kiel (12-7). Loss - Linnemann (5-7). Save - None.
