Biography

UD returns junior big man, Devon Scott, for the 2014-15 campaign. Scott brings tremendous energy and emotion when he enters the Flyer line-up. He has the ability to muscle his way in the post and grab rebounds.

Scott improved his play during his sophomore season at UD. He increased his production in nearly every category. Scott upped his points per game from 2.0 in 2012-13 to 3.4 last season. He also increased his rebounds per game from 1.7 to 2.7 and his field-goal percentage from 51.4% to 56.4%.

2013-14
Devon Scott played in 35 games, including seven starts, for the Flyers during the 2013-14 season as he totaled 441 minutes played (12.6 mpg) with 119 points (3.4 ppg) and 94 rebounds (2.7 rpg). Scott led the team in field goal percentage as he converted on 56.4% (44-of-78) of his shots.

At Georgia Tech, Scott scored a career-high 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 shooting from the foul line. Scott recorded six points and hauled in a team-high nine rebounds in a victory over No. 11 Gonzaga in the Maui Invitational. In the third place game of the Maui Invitational versus Cal, Scott tallied seven points and snagged a team-high eight rebounds.

He netted seven points on 2-of-2 shooting from the field against Delaware State. Versus Murray State, Scott recorded four points, three rebounds and two blocks. He tallied 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting and hauled in five rebounds versus Winthrop.

Versus Saint Louis at home, Scott registered six points and hauled in four rebounds. At Richmond, Scott scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds. In the Sweet 16 versus Stanford, he scored six points on 2-of-2 shooting and snagged two rebounds.

2012-13
Devon Scott played in 27 of the team’s 31 games, including 10 starts, during his freshman campaign. Overall, Scott played 240 minutes (8.9 mpg), scoring 55 points (2.0 ppg) and hauling in 47 rebounds (1.7 rpg). Scott shot .514 (19-of-37) from the field for the season.

Scott scored six points on 2-of-3 shooting against Auburn. Against Northern Illinois, Scott pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds in just 17 minutes.

At La Salle, Scott scored a career-high seven points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field and hauled in three rebounds. In the next game against Fordham, he scored five points and snagged three rebounds.

At Rhode Island, Scott scored six points on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting from the field and grabbed three rebounds. Against Richmond, he scored four points and grabbed three rebounds. In the game against Saint Bonaventure, Scott tallied five points and hauled in seven rebounds.

High School
Devon Scott became the second commit from Columbus Northland High School as he joined teammate Jalen Robinson on the University of Dayton basketball team. Scott is a 6-foot-8 forward/center, who ESPN ranked as the No. 6 overall player in the state of Ohio and the No. 52 overall power forward in the country.

He is known as a terrific rebounder and a solid scorer on the low block. Scott was named Division I Second Team All-Ohio as a senior after averaging 17.2 points per game. He was also named First Team All-District.

As a junior, Scott averaged 11.5 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots per game. During his sophomore season, he backed up Boston Celtics’ forward and former Ohio State star, Jared Sullinger. Northland’s record over the last four years in 98-6, with two appearances in the Ohio Division I state finals, including a 2009 state championship.

Scott was also a member of the 17U All-Ohio Red team that won the 2011 AAU national championship.
