The University of Dayton has a history of proudly supporting our military and law enforcement. Our Army ROTC program is among the oldest continuously operated Army ROTC programs in the nation and our growing veteran's services program serves more than 400 students. The Division of Athletics in particular has a long-standing tradition of honoring military and law enforcement personnel, highlighting individual servicemen and women and their service at UD and NCAA tournament games. We support and honor local law enforcement, including celebrating a Blue Mass every year. Our Department of Public Safety enjoys exceptionally strong partnerships with federal, state, and local law enforcement, and especially values our relationship with the City of Dayton Police Department.

#DaytonStrong

During the spring and summer of 2019, Dayton experienced great loss from both the Memorial Day tornadoes and the tragic event that transpired August 4th in Dayton's Historic Oregon District. While both were catastrophic, these events served to remind us of a very important thing – there are heroes who walk among us every day. Some of them are the first responders who put themselves between us and harm’s way, serving and protecting us with honor and dignity. Some of them are the medical professionals who put their patients ahead of themselves, saving and rebuilding lives. Some of them are the volunteers, who step up for their neighbors in their greatest time of need.
