Brian Walsh was named the program’s new Assistant Director of Basketball Operations in May of 2016. Walsh, 27, had been one of the Flyer graduate assistants the last two seasons.
“Brian has been with us these past two years and has done a tremendous job, adding value in almost every area in the program,” Miller said. “He has a great mind for the game, relates well with our players, and compliments our coaching staff perfectly. He has a very bright future in college basketball.”
As assistant DOBO, Walsh will assist with basic day-to-day administrative duties, including assisting with academic services, recruiting, housing, team meals, community service and player services. He will also have responsibilities related to video, team travel and summer camp operations.
Walsh joined the Flyers as a graduate assistant before the 2014-15 season. He graduated from the University of Akron, where he played on the basketball team. As a sophomore, Walsh was first in the MAC in three point field goal percentage in conference play (.442) and second overall (.434). Before transferring to Akron, Walsh was a member of Xavier University's basketball team.
The Sewickly, Pennsylvania native averaged 19.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists as a senior at Moon High School, and was Moon’s first player named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s “Fabulous Five (top five players in Pittsburgh).
