Leron Black was named the video coordinator for Dayton men's basketball in the summer of 2023..
He first joined the Flyers as a graduate assistant before the 2021 season. He grew up in Memphis, Tenn. and played four years of Big Ten basketball at the University of Illinois. At Illinois, he scored 921 points and grabbed 529 rebounds, leading the team in both during his senior year. Leron was a three-year starter and co-captain, and was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention during his senior campaign. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and a Master's in Education Policy Organization and Leadership from Illinois.
After his time in Champaign, he began his professional playing career in Argentina, where he led Argentino De Junin in scoring and rebounding, before moving on to Brazil. In Brazil, he played for both Clube de Regata do Flamengo and Minas Tenis Clube.Â
Despite success in South America, Black left professional basketball to pursue a coaching career, arriving in Dayton in the summer of 2021. He earned his Master's in Human Services in Education Science from UD in December of 2022. Leron and his fiancee, Sheila Segura, live in Liberty Township.
