Devin Searcy is part of the winningest class in Flyer men’s basketball history. Searcy’s teams finished with a combined record of 97-45 with a win percentage of .683. The 97 wins topped the 2010 and 1955 class win total of 94.

Searcy played in 130 career games for the Flyers, which ranks fifth all-time in school history. He played 1,605 career minutes with averages of 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. Searcy shot the ball exceptionally well from the field for his career with a percentage of .510 (155-of-304). Searcy’s career high came at Saint Louis his junior season when he poured in 16 points. He had three career double-doubles, all of which came his senior season.

Searcy is an exceptional finisher for a big man who is versatile, athletic and runs the floor very well. He owns a fundamentally sound game by being able to set screens, fight for position on the interior, and hustle after loose balls. His “lunch pail” mentality garners respect from both coaches and teammates alike. Not only is Searcy an athletic 6-10, he has a 37-inch vertical leap and a seven-foot fingertip-to-fingertip reach.

2010-11
Searcy played in all 36 games for the Flyers during his senior season, which included 23 starts. For the season, Searcy played 541 minutes (15.0 mpg), scored 133 points (3.7 ppg) and hauled in 142 rebounds (3.9 rpg). His 142 rebounds placed him third on the team only behind Chris Wright and Chris Johnson. Searcy had a knack for hitting the offensive boards as he snagged 61 of them for the season. His 61 offensive rebounds were 15 more than his previous high of 46 in a season. Searcy placed second on the team behind Josh Benson with a field goal percentage of .479 (56-of-117). He also shot exceptional from the foul line with a .875 percentage (21-of-24).

Searcy couldn’t script his start of the season better than it turned out. Searcy’s first two games consisted of back-to-back double-doubles with a 15 point and 12 rebound performance against Mount St. Mary’s and a 10 point and 11 rebounding effort against Akron. The 12 rebounds against Mount St. Mary’s is a career-high. The following game at Ole Miss, Searcy couldn’t keep the double-double run going but still put together a solid nine point and four rebound effort. In that same game, Searcy converted a career-high five made free throws on six attempts.

Against Miami, Searcy scored 10 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting and hauled in three rebounds. Searcy would follow with an eight point and seven rebound effort against Central Connecticut State. He hauled in 10 rebounds and scored four points against Winthrop. That double-digit rebounding effort was one of four games Searcy hauled in at least 10 rebounds in a game for the season. Only Chris Wright and Chris Johnson had more double-digit rebounding games than Searcy.

Against Fordham, Searcy netted nine points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting and grabbed six rebounds. He recorded five points, six rebounds, and two steals against Richmond. At Charlotte, Searcy scored seven points and hauled in seven rebounds. Searcy’s third and final double-double of the season came in a thrilling victory over Duquesne as he poured in 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and snagged 11 rebounds.

2009-10
Devin Searcy played in all 37 games for the Flyers, including four starts. Year after year, he is making strides in improving his game. His scoring output increased from 2.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game as a sophomore to 3.9 points and 3.4 rebounds as a junior. In addition, Searcy led the Flyers in field goal percentage at .589 (56-of-95) and ranked third on the team with 13 blocks. On the season, Searcy totaled 143 points and hauled in 104 rebounds while playing 521 minutes.
