Not many walkons can say they were part of the winningest class in school history. Logan Nourse is one of the few that can. Nourse spent three years as a walk-on, as his senior class finished with a school-record 97 wins.
He was the leader in the backcourt of UD’s “scout team.” UD’s walkons are asked to do everything the rest of the team does physically, with the added responsibility of learning each Flyer opponent’s offensive and defensive sets.
2010-11
Nourse played 12 minutes in seven games for the Flyers. He hauled in three rebounds and dished out two assists for the season.
2009-10
Nourse returned to the basketball team and appeared in three games, in which he knocked down a free throw and dished out an assist.
2007-08
Nourse played in four games and had one steal.
High School
As a senior at Spencervilee (Ohio) High School, Nourse averaged 22.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists, in basketball, and quarterbacked the football team to an OHSAA playoff berth. He played in the Nancy Rehm Ohio vs. Indiana All-Star Game.
He was a four-time All-Northwest Conference selection, and three-time (HM, third team, second team) Division III All-Ohio. He was Spencerville’s career leader in scoring (1,500 points), starts (87) and three-pointers (186). He was on teams that were a combined 67-22 and won two conference championships.
He is the nephew of former Ohio State and NFL
quarterback Bobby Hoying. Another uncle, Luke Fickell, played defensive line at OSU, had injuries cut short his career with the New Orleans Saints and is now co-defensive coordinator with the Buckeyes.
