Biography

Matt Derenbecker transferred to the University of Dayton from LSU just before the 2011-12 academic year.

2011-12
Derenbecker sat out the 2011-2012 season due to NCAA transfer rules. He will have three seasons of eligibility at Dayton.

At LSU
Derenbecker played in all 32 of LSU’s games in 2010-11. He started 16 games and finished the year with averages of 6.5 points and 2.1 rebounds a game. His production improved as the year went on. He started 15 of LSU’s 16 Southeastern Conference games and was the Tiger’s third-leading scorer in SEC play (8.3 ppg). His 18 steals also led LSU in the 16 conference contests.

High School
An ESPNU Top 100 player coming out of Metairie Park Country Day School and two-time Louisiana High School Gatorade Player of the Year, Derenbecker averaged 25.5 points per game and 9.9 rebounds a game his senior season. He led Metairie Park back to the Louisiana Class 1A finals after being named the MVP of the championship game as a junior. He scored 31 points in the championship-winning effort in 2009 and finished the year averaging 20.3 points per game and 11.3 rebounds.
