Prior to the 2024 season, Dave Brittingham was named assistant coach for the Dayton softball program, supporting head coach Cara Clark.

He spent the three previous seasons (2021-23) as a volunteer assistant coach.

Brittingham joined the Dayton softball team in 2021 after 15 years on staff at nearby Wright State. He has over 40 years of experience as both a player and a coach and is a 2012 inductee into the Ohio Amateur Softball Association Hall of Honor.

A graduate of Corllins University with a degree in counseling, Brittingham also attended Sinclair Community College (labor studies) and Ohio State (addiction studies). He served in the military from January 1967 until July 1970 with tours in the Mediterranean and Vietnam. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and three air medals while serving in Vietnam.

Brittingham is retired from General Motors/Delphi with 36 years of service. He retired as an Employee Assistance Professional (EAP), earning certifications in EAP and Chemical Dependency. He currently resides in Xenia.
