Vera Gomes serves as Academic Coordinator for Student-Athletes since joining the University of Dayton staff in December of 2003. Her role of academic coordinator is to oversee the academic progress of student-athletes, primarily in the sports of baseball, football, softball, men’s and women’s cross country and women's track & field.
Prior to Dayton, Gomes worked as an academic advisor to first-year students at the University of Connecticut. She also spent three years at her alma mater, Providence College, serving as Assistant Academic Coordinator for Student-Athletes, overseeing the sports of men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s ice hockey.
Gomes is a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A), serving one term as committee chair of the Student-Athlete Recognition and currently an active member of the Ethnic Concerns committee.
An east coast native of Pawtucket, R.I., Gomes earned a graduate degree in public administration from American University in 2000 and an undergraduate degree in political science from Providence College in 1997. She currently resides in Miamisburg, Ohio.
