The University of Dayton women’s basketball team and head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter have announced the addition of Darryl Hudson as a new assistant coach in May 2023.
“I am super excited to be a part of Flyer nation,” said Hudson. “The opportunity to learn, assist, and grow under Coach Williams-Jeter is something words can’t explain. Her knowledge, basketball obsession, and the joy with which she speaks about her players, staff, and the Dayton community is extremely motivating. I’m super thankful and ready to work with Coach Williams-Jeter and staff."
Hudson comes to Dayton after spending the past three seasons at Omaha on the Mavericks’ women’s basketball staff. In his time there, he helped guide Omaha to the Summit League Championship game two of the three years. He also coached Second Team All-League performer in Elena Pilakouta, who went over 1,200 points for her career last season.
Prior to Omaha, Hudson served as an assistant coach at Jackson State University for two years. There he won the SWAC regular season title in 2019-20 with a 16-2 league mark and 14-0 start to the season, the best in program history. He coached a trio of all-conference players in Marneisha Hamer, Dayzsha Rogan, and SWAC Defensive Player of the Year Ameysha Williams.
The Belleville, Mich. native also had a coaching stint at the University of Michigan Dearborn following his playing career at Howard University, where he also was a 1,000-point scorer. He went on to play professionally in Europe and New Zealand for six seasons. Hudson served as CEO of the AAU Club Hudson Elite, leading into his coaching career.
Hudson earned his bachelor’s in physical therapy from Howard in 2007.
