Trish Miles

Trish Miles is back with the University of Dayton rowing staff as an assistant coach. She rejoined the staff in January 2021.

She brings more than 30 years of rowing and coaching experience at the junior, college, and masters levels to the Flyers. She and her husband Mike Miles started the UD rowing program in 1991 and were instrumental in starting the Atlantic 10 Championships in the sport.

In addition to starting the UD rowing club – which soon thereafter became an NCAA Division I varsity sport at Dayton – Miles also was a founding coach of the Dayton Boat Club. She was head coach of the women’s team of the University of Dayton Rowing Club from 1991-98.

Miles has won multiple medals in lightweight events at club and elite championships. In 1999 she was a finalist for the U.S Trials of the World Championships. That same season, Miles was the national champion in the lightweight single (club) and the lightweight double (elite). She also won the master’s single division at the illustrious Head of the Charles.

From 2004-06 she was the masters/adult women’s coach for Dayton Boat Club, and from 2006-20 she was the high school rowing coach for the novice boys, novice girls, and most recently varsity boys. She coached the novice boys 4 and novice girls 8 to medals at the Midwest Championships.

In addition to her rowing accomplishments, she was a first-grade teacher at Incarnation School and a substitute teacher at Holy Angles and Chaminade Julienne High School. She is also fondly called the “Grilled Cheese Lady” and is the owner of the C’est Cheese food truck.
