Ryan Meyer has helped bring the University of Dayton Tennis Program to new heights since taking over in November of 2012.

After taking over a program that hadn't had a winning season since 2007, Meyer coached the Flyers to an above .500 record with an 11-9 mark in 2015, in what was just his third season at the helm. Heading into 2024-25, Meyer has led the team to winning seasons in eight of the last nine years, with the lone exception being a .500 record during the 2020 season shortened by COVID-19.

In 2025, the Flyers finished the season 22-4, earning the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championships. The team swept No. 9 Saint Louis and defeated No. 5 Davidson, dropping the championship match to VCU. Meyer received his second Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honors with Kyle McNally winning Most Outstanding Player. Sai Dore and Mikkel Zinder were named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team. Men's Tennis also earned the ITA Ohio Valley Community Service Award.

Dayton returned to the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2024 as the No. 3 seed, upending No. 6 Davidson in the opening round and No. 2 Richmond in the semifinal before falling to VCU in the championship match. The Flyers finished the season 19-9, with freshman Kyle McNally winning Rookie of the Year and earning an All-Conference first team nod.

2023 saw the Flyers turn to Cinderella during the Atlantic 10 Championship, coming in as the No. 6 seed and upsetting both No. 3 Saint Louis and No. 2 Richmond to earn a spot in the championship final. Meyer won Atlantic 10 Co-Coach of the Year as a result of UD's tournament run and a 15-11 regular season record despite battling through multiple key injuries along the way.

Dayton finished 16-8 during dual action in 2022, earning the A-10's No. 3 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship and advancing to its second championship match in as many years.

In 2021, Meyer led the Flyers to the second seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship, the best postseason position for the program since 2005. He also coached Connor Bruce to earn Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Rookie, and the team to a perfect 11-0 home record.

The team finished with an 18-7 record in 2018, tying for the second-most victories in a season all-time for Dayton Tennis. The Flyers also advanced to the finals of the Atlantic 10 Championships in 2018 under Meyer's watch for the first time in 13 years.

Meyer has also undoubtedly raised the talent level expected from a Dayton Tennis athlete. The 2021-22 roster boasts three five-star recruits and during the 2018-19 season also had three that all ranked in the top 30 of their respective classes according to tennisrecruiting.net, including Jordan Benjamin (No. 26 - 2015), Spencer Richey (No. 21 - 2015) and Steven Karl (No. 8 - 2016).

He also accomplished a first in Dayton Tennis history by helping lead Jordan Benjamin to become the first Flyer to ever qualify for the NCAA Tennis Championships. Benjamin went a perfect 16-0 during the spring season -- all at the No. 1 spot in the lineup -- and finished the season as the A-10 Conference's only ranked player in the ITA Top 125 National Rankings, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Meyer comes to Dayton from Thomas More College, where he was the head women’s tennis coach for the past three seasons. Before coaching at Thomas More, he was an assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati (2009-10) and Franklin College (2007-2009).

Meyer also has teaching professional experience at Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Ky., Stanford University and the Van der Meer Tennis University in Hilton Head Island, S.C. He also interned at the Professional Tennis Registry in Hilton Head and the Lake Piedmont Tennis Club in Indianapolis.

Prior to his coaching career, Meyer was a four-year letter winner with the tennis program at Franklin College, where he was an individual conference champion in 2005, and team captain as a senior. He earned his Bachelor’s in Recreation with a minor in Sport Management in 2008. Meyer also holds a Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration earned from Concordia (CA) University in 2010.

The men's team finished with 11 wins this season, which was more wins than in the first two seasons combined.   Dayton was the fifth seed in the A-10 tournament.  UD beat La Salle before falling to eventual A-10 champion George Washington.  A highlight in the regular season was a 4-3 win at eventual Ohio Valley conference champion and NCAA tournament participant Eastern Kentucky.
