David Riggsby begins his first season as volunteer assistant coach on the Dayton volleyball staff for the 2015 season. He will be focusing on DataVolley as well as video coordination for the Flyers.
Additionally, Riggsby will also work with defensive players and on defensive strategy for the team.
Riggsby played four seasons of volleyball at Medaille College in Buffalo, New York, serving as team captain his senior year. He had a stellar season his fourth year, helping lead his team to NEAC and AMCC championships and was chosen as the 2015 NEAC and AMCC Player of the Year. On March 11, 2013, he was named the AVCA DIII National Player of the Week. Riggsby ended his career at Medaille with 2,950 assists which ranks him second on the Mavs Career Leader Board.
Throughout his childhood, Riggsby was coached by his father starting with Tee Ball until he passed away in 2006. He always knew he would following in his father's footsteps in the coaching world and feels like he has found his calling in college volleyball.
He graduated from Medaille College in May of 2015 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and was an active member Medaille's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).
A Centerville, Ohio, native, Riggsby attended nearby Centerville High School and holds the school record for assists in a season 1003 (2010). He also played for the Centerville Diamond Dawgs and the Kettering EKRC Firebirds under the tutelage of his father.
