Pete Sass enters his sixth season as a coach at the University of Dayton in 2027, his fifth as a full-time coach.
As the team's first base coach, he has helped the team enter the record book for stolen bases in each of the last three seasons, ranking second in 2026 (131), third in 2025 (131) and fifth in 2024 (118). The 2026 team also set records in on-base percentage (.415), runs scored (457) and home runs (91), earning second in runs batted in (418).
On the recruiting trail, Perfect Game has ranked the FlyBoys in the top 100 in 2023, 2024 and 2025. The 2024 recruiting class was the team's best ranking in that time, placing No. 66 in the country and first in the Atlantic 10.

Sass comes to the Flyers from ASA Miami College, where he worked as an assistant coach from January to December 2021. Prior to that, he served as an assistant at Barry University from August 2020 until his stint at ASA Miami began.

A native of Decatur, Georgia, Sass has also served as the head coach of two travel baseball teams, leading the Ohio Warhawks this past year and Beast Mode Prime from September 2018 to 2021.

Sass also served as the head coach for Doctors Charter High School in Miami Shores, Florida from August 2017 to March 2020.
