Life-time Flyer Tony Caruso currently serves as the Head Equipment Manager for the Division of Athletics and has been employed by the University of Dayton since 1981.
He works directly with the football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball programs, while also overseeing the purchase of all awards and laundry needs of the department.
Caruso served for eight seasons on the Dayton baseball coaching staff – including three seasons as head coach from 1982-84. Before taking over as head equipment manager, Caruso was a groundskeeper for the Stuart Hill Baseball and Softball Complex.
Since 2000, Caruso has also served as the clubhouse assistant and consultant for the Dayton Dragons – the Class A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
Caruso is a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers’ Association (AEMA).
The Cincinnati, Ohio native was a baseball student-athlete at Dayton and obtained an education degree in 1985. Caruso lettered for four seasons as a pitcher with the Flyers from 1978-81, and was named the team’s Most Valuable Pitcher in 1980.
He lives in Oakwood, Ohio with wife Judy and their daughter Isabella.
