Kettering joined the Dayton Men's Soccer program in July 2016 as an assistant coach.

A native of Xenia, Ohio, Kettering comes to Dayton after seven years as the Associate Head Coach for Gardner-Webb University.

His stint with the Bulldogs began in 2007 after a two-year professional career as a goalkeeper with the Chicago Fire in the MLS (2008-2009) and the Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL (2006-2007). Prior to that, Kettering was a standout shot-stopper for Gardner-Webb for four years.

As the starting goalkeeper for the Bulldogs, Kettering led the nation in saves twice (2004, 2006), set school and conference records in career saves (446), and earned Atlantic Sun All-Conference honors twice. He finished second in GWU’s history with 15 career shutouts and earned A-Sun Freshman Team accolades in 2003. Kettering was a three-time recipient of A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week honors.

In his time as the Associate Head Coach at Gardner-Webb, Kettering served as the recruiting coordinator, as well as ran day-to-day team operations along with developing and implementing practice sessions and overseeing the goalkeeper training throughout the season. Since 2009, the Bulldog goalkeepers totaled 23 shutouts and helped rewrite the GWU record books with season and career bests by Scott Krotee and Adam Garcia.

Kettering married the former Ali Labig on December 29, 2007.  The couple resides in Dayton with their children Logan (7), Karis (5), and Charlie (2).
