INDIANAPOLIS – Due to severe wind conditions the Head of the Eagle was cancelled and the University of Dayton women's rowing team will have to wait one more week to open the 2013 fall season.
With gusts up to 25-30 miles per hour at the Indianapolis Rowing Center at Eagle Creek Park, officials cancelled the race for safety of the participants.Â
"We are disappointed we did not get to compete, but this happens sometimes," said Head Coach Mike Wenker. "I would like to note the support was great, especially from the parents of our rowers."
The Flyers will be in action next Saturday, Nov. 2 in a duel race against Indiana in Bloomington, Ind.Â
