SIBERT'S GAME-WINNING 3 LIFTS DAYTON PAST IPFW, 81-80

DAYTON - -In his first game in a Dayton uniform, tranfsfer guard Jordan Sibert played the hero. His game-winning three-pointer with 1.0 second remianing lifted the University of Dayton Flyers over the IPFW Mastodons 81-80 at UD Arena .

Dyshawn Pierre led the Flyers with 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Khari Price scored a career-high 17 points and Sibert added 10 points.

The Flyers got off to a strong start leading 44-35 going into halftime. Price was the first half scoring leader with 12 points, shooting 4-6 from the field and all four shots from three. Pierre woke up the crowd early with a big ally-op from Scoochie Smith. Pierre ended the half with 11 points and four assists.

The second half was a different story; IPFW came out of the locker and took the lead 59-57 with 9:20 remaining in the game. Steve Forbes shot 5-of-6 with 11 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half to take the lead and take the energy out of the UD home crowd.

The Flyers got back into the game though with an 11-1 run to take a 68-65 lead with 3:07 remaining. The Mastodons responded to the Flyers' run with a run of their own and took the lead 76-71 with 34 seconds to go.

After a critical steal and a couple crucial free throws converted, the Flyers found themselves down two with six seconds remaining. On the IPFW inbounds play, Price picked it off and quickly found Kyle Davis. Davis took a couple dribbles up the floor and then found an open Sibert in the corner for game-winning shot.

Dayton won its ninth straight home opener.

IPFW's high performer was Pierre Bland, who ended the game with 18 points.

The Flyers are back in action Wednesday, Nov. 13 as they host the St. Francis Red Flash at 7 p.m. ET.
