PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of Dayton women's basketball team evened its record to 4-4 with an 83-65 road win over the Big East's Providence (4-5) Wednesday. The Flyers never trailed in the game in which 1,651 area school children were in attendance.
Junior
Andrea Hoover led all scorers with 20 points, including 18 first-half points for Dayton. Sophomore
Amber Deane scored 19 points and also tallied six rebounds and five assists. Junior
Ally Malott added 13 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Sophomore
Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova had eight points and a career-high and game-high 11 rebounds, to go along with two blocks. Sophomore
Kelley Austria contributed nine points, four assists and three steals.
The Flyers shot 44.8 percent from the field, and also out-rebounded the Friars 52-43. Dayton also used its speed to its advantage, outscoring PC 35-9 on fast break points.
The Flyers play at Toledo on Sunday, Dec. 22 before returning back home for a rematch against Central Michigan on Monday, Dec. 30. The Central Michigan game will be Dayton's Camper Day.
