NEW YEAR'S DAY CLASH AS DAYTON HOSTS WINTHROP
• The University of Dayton Flyers host a New Year's Day game versus the Winthrop Eagles on Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET.
The game will be televised on FOX Sports Ohio, carried by WHIO Radio and are available with live stats and streaming audio at DaytonFlyers.com.

ABOUT WINTHROP
• The Winthrop Eagles come into the game 6-5 overall and have lost three straight. Freshman Keon Johnson leads Winthrop in scoring averaging 14.8 points per game. Joab Jerome (11.8 ppg) and Andre Smith (11.7 ppg) add to the balanced attack. Winthrop is 1-4 on the road this season.
SERIES STUFF
• Dayton leads the all-time series 2-0. The last time out, UD defeated Winthrop at home, 73-58, on Dec. 20, 2010.
NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS
• Just how rare is it for the Flyers to play on New Year's Day? This will be just the fifth time in the program's history UD will play on January 1. Dayton is 3-1 all-time on New Year's Day and its last game came against New Mexico in 2011. UD defeated New Mexico at home 76-73 in double overtime.
GONE IN SIXTY SECONDS
• The Flyers are 5-0 this season when limiting opponents to 60 points or less. All five games have come at home. Last season UD was 7-0 when holding teams to 60 points or less.
DOUBLE TIME
•
Dyshawn Pierre has recorded a double-double in three consecutive games. He tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds against Murray State, 16 points and 10 rebounds against USC and 22 points and 14 rebounds versus Iona. The last Flyer to record three straight double-doubles was Chris Wright from Nov. 25-28, 2008 against Mercer, Auburn and Marquette.
GLASS CLEANERS
• The Flyers lead the Atlantic 10 in rebounding defense, allowing opponents to grab just 30.5 per game. Dayton is 9-2 this season when out-rebounding its opponents. Speaking of rebounding, UD is also second in the A-10 in rebounding margin (+5.8).
BIG AGAINST THE BIG SOUTH
• The Flyers are 9-0 all-time against Big South programs.
