DAYTON FOOTBALL STAYS ON THE ROAD, VISITS MARIST ON SATURDAY

Game Will Be Televised On Time Warner Cable SportsChannel In NY & Ohio

The University of Dayton football team remains on the road this week, heading to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to take on the Marist Red Foxes on Saturday, Oct. 11.  Game time at Tenney Stadium is 12 Noon ET.

Dayton is 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Pioneer Football League, while Marist is currently 1-5 and 1-2 in the PFL.  Both teams are coming of wins.  UD outlasted Davidson in an epic five-overtime 54-48 battle, while Marists won its first game of the year, 35-7, at Valparaiso.

The Dayton win at Davidson was head coach Rick Chamberlin's 50th career win.  Chamberlin is in his seventh season as the Flyer boss, but this is his 40th season in the Dayton football program counting his four seasons as a player and 29 as an assistant.

At Davidson, running back Connor Kacsor ran the ball 47 times (the second-most in Dayton history) for 213 yards and a career-high four TD's.  All four of his touchdowns came in overtime.  In the overtimes, Dayton ran 21 plays and Kacsor touched the ball on 19 of them -- 18 rushes for 90 yards and one reception for six yards.

STREAKING
UD has not been shut out in a school-record 424 straight games, the best such active string in all of college football. The last team to shut out the Flyers was Marshall, 9-0, on Oct. 16, 1976. That is also the all-time FCS record.

SCOUTING THE RED FOXES
Marist is off to a slow start after graduating one of the most dynamic players in PFL history, quarterback Chuckie Looney. After scoring just 36 points in the season's first five games, the Red Foxes scored 35 points in their win at Valparaiso.
While the offense is getting up to speed, Marist is depending on its defense to shoulder the load.  Marist leads the PFL in scoring defense (20.8).  The Red Foxes start nine seniors and two juniors on defense.  All three linebackers are redshirt seniors.  Safety Zach Adler has 47 hits and four interceptions.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton leads the series with Marist 4-1, but the Red Foxes knocked off the Flyers 31-20 in last year's PFL opener at Welcome Stadium on Sept. 28.
This is Dayton's third trip to Poughkeepsie, and the first two were thrillers.  UD won in OT in 2010, clinching a share of the PFL title, and won 21-17 in a game that came down to a matchup between the two best players on the field -- Dayton Kyle Sebetic and Marist's Michael Rios.  Sebetic wrestled away a pass from Rios to stop Marist's last drive with less than two minutes left in the game.

UP NEXT
Dayton returns home for the first time since Sept. 20, when Morehead State visits Welcome Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 18. The game is UD's annual Football Alumni Day, the Flyers will honor their 1984 team that finished 10-0 in the regular season.
