Andrea Hoover led all scorers with 20 points while also grabbing a team-high eight rebounds to go with four assists and one steal.
Junior Kelley Austria chipped in 16 points as the second Flyer in double-figures scoring while collecting six steals, just one off her career high. Junior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova swatted four blocks to go with eight points and five rebounds.
Dayton (0-2) was nearly perfect from the line, connecting on 21 of 22 free throws and committed 15 turnovers to Gonzaga's (1-0) 21 miscues. The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Flyers, 46-35, but the two squads were even with 26 points in the paint each.
Behind the strength of a 9-2 run to open the second half, Gonzaga was able to take a four-point lead, 41-37, with just under 16 minutes remaining in the contest. Dayton rallied to tie the game at 44-all and retook the lead at 46-44 following two made free throws from sophomore Saicha Grant-Allen. Grant-Allen's layup at the 10:29 mark evened the score at 48-48, the last tie of the contest. Down the stretch, the Bulldogs were able to go ahead by as many as 11 before finally taking the contest by the 10-point, 75-65 margin.
During the first half, Dayton shot 40.6 percent from the field, draining 4-of-10 attempts from long range, and led by as many as 13 points, 21-8. The Flyers used an 8-3 run to close out the first 20 minutes with the 33-22 advantage heading into the break.
Gonzaga was led by Lindsay Sherbert with 18 points, one of three Bulldogs in double-figures scoring. Shelby Chelsek grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and swatted five shots for the Zags as well.
The Flyers return to action on Friday, Nov. 21 as they are set to participate in the Iowa Hawkeye Challenge. Dayton will face UT Martin at 6 p.m. at Iowa's Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
